Tree cleanup (May 2026): detached from fabricated noble French ancestry (the 'Count'/'Lord of Anjou' Duvall line). His documented origin is Nantes, France; pre-immigration parentage is unverified. Mareen Duvall (b.~1630) is the earliest confirmed ancestor on this line.
RESEARCH NOTE: Mareen Duvall, 'the Emigrant.' Born Marin Duval near Nantes, France, c.1625; a French Huguenot (Protestant) who fled religious persecution. Arrived in the Province of Maryland 28 Aug 1650, transported by Col. William Burgess as an indentured servant. Freed by 1659; patented his first tract 'Lavall' (1659/60) and the 600-acre Middle Plantation on the South River (1664), Anne Arundel Co. Prosperous planter and merchant holding several thousand acres. Ancestor of Harry Truman, Barack Obama, Warren Buffett, Justice Gabriel Duvall, Wallis Simpson and actor Robert Duvall. Died 1694.
